What is 5G?

5G is the newest generation of mobile networks, with faster speeds and lower delay than the standard before it. Most of the providers here offer 5G, so the network generation alone will not separate them from each other. What matters more abroad is coverage in the country you are visiting, and whether the plan runs on a partner network there. 5G also draws more power, which can shorten battery life over a long travel day. If you need only maps, messaging and browsing for a week, the older generation is usually plenty, so read the allowance and the covered countries before paying extra for speed.
