Our verdict
Yas Tanzania is a Tanzanian carrier selling roaming rather than a travel eSIM bundle, so it suits people already on its home network who want voice minutes and per-megabyte data abroad. Prices start at TZS 10,000 in local currency, and unlimited data is not part of the range.

Pros and cons
Pros
- A home carrier rather than a reseller: the legal entity is Honora Tanzania, founded 1994 and based in Tanzania.
- The 5G label sits in its feature list, 5g and carrier plan, and top-ups are available on the same account.
- Support runs on phone, email and help centre, so the network itself answers roaming questions.
- Roaming data reaches the Asia and North America zone and the Europe zone, plus Japan, Mexico and Thailand, sold per megabyte.
Cons
- Unlimited data is not offered, so heavy data use abroad is metered per megabyte.
- Its travel products are international voice minute packs plus per-megabyte roaming data, with reference prices set per zone.
- Prices start at TZS 10,000 in Tanzanian shillings, so comparing with dollar priced plans takes a conversion step.
Who it suits
- Yas customers at home who want one account for local data and roaming, with 5G and top-ups.
- Travellers heading to the Europe zone or the Asia and North America zone who need voice minutes as much as data.
- Anyone on a short trip or a long trip, since short trip and long trip covers both.
Who should look elsewhere
- Travellers who want unlimited data: Zwitchy lists unlimited data and Yas does not.
- Buyers on a dollar budget shopping for a travel eSIM, where eSIMGo.is starts at $0.99.
- People who want a fixed data allowance and a known validity window rather than per megabyte roaming, and SimToIsrael sells from $25.

Frequently asked questions
What does Yas Tanzania charge for roaming?+
Home plans start at TZS 10,000 in Tanzanian shillings. Abroad, the travel products are international voice minute packs plus roaming data sold per megabyte, and the rate follows the zone you are in. Reference prices are published per zone, so the bill depends on how long you stay on the network and how much you browse.
Does Yas offer unlimited data?+
Unlimited data is not offered. Its internet plans are metered, and roaming data abroad is charged per megabyte, which adds up on a longer trip. If an unlimited allowance matters, Zwitchy lists unlimited data among its features.
Is Yas a travel eSIM or a roaming SIM?+
It is a Tanzanian carrier selling its own network, not a travel eSIM. The travel products are international voice minute packs plus per-megabyte roaming data, so you activate the same home network rather than installing a destination eSIM before departure.
Which countries can I roam in?+
The Asia and North America zone covers India, Hong Kong, the USA and Canada. The Europe zone covers the UK, Germany, Ireland, Norway and Turkey, with Turkey and the UK placed in that zone, and France sold separately. Japan, Mexico and Thailand are pay-as-you-go per minute.
Who runs Yas and how long has it been around?+
Yas is a carrier, carrier, operated by Honora Tanzania and based in Tanzania, TZ. It was founded in 1994, so it is an established network operator rather than a new reseller of other networks.
How do I get help with roaming?+
Support runs on phone, email and help centre, so questions about roaming rates, the international minute packs and per-megabyte data charges can go to the network directly. Because Yas is a carrier, the help comes from the operator rather than a third-party reseller.
Can I top up while I am abroad?+
Top-ups are available, so the balance can be topped up without returning to Tanzania. Data abroad is still metered per megabyte, so a top-up mainly extends voice minutes and any included local data bundle rather than giving unlimited roaming.
Does Yas carry 5G?+
The 5G label appears in its feature list, 5g and carrier plan, alongside its carrier plan features. 5G is available on the network in Tanzania, while roaming data abroad runs on partner networks in each zone, where the connection type follows the partner.
