Telecel Faso review

The roaming footprint is regional and covers 5 countries, reached through partner networks such as Telecel Faso, Orange Mali and Orange Senegal. That is a regional scheme for West Africa rather than a global footprint, so trips outside the region need another option.

Unlimited data is included on the internet offers, and unlimited data and carrier plan lists it alongside a carrier plan. The plans are framed for long trip travel, and top-ups are available for a traveller who wants to add credit mid trip.

Hotspot sharing is not offered on these plans, so a laptop or tablet cannot draw data from the phone through tethering. The unlimited data and carrier plan cover data and a carrier plan across 5 countries, which suits a traveller packing a single device.

5G is not part of the network today. Coverage is regional, with 5 countries reachable through partner networks, so a traveller should expect slower speeds on older technology rather than a 5G connection.

The plans are sold by the operator itself, Telecel Faso SA, BF OUA 2015 M 5086, based in Burkina Faso and running since 2000. Support runs on email, phone and help centre, so a subscriber can email, call or work through the help centre.

The 5 country footprint is the trade-off. Zwitchy reaches 200 countries and eSIMGo.is 190, so a traveller with a multi continent itinerary gets more from them, while a regional trip here stays on partner networks.

The audience is long trip, and data is unlimited, so a traveller staying put in a single country for a while is well covered. With 5 countries and regional reach, moving between neighbouring markets is where it earns its keep.

Top-ups are available, and support runs on email, phone and help centre for questions about credit. With unlimited data already on the unlimited data and carrier plan, most trips would not need extra credit, though a heavy user on partner networks may still want it.
