KDDI au review

Reference prices are set by region, and the entry price is ¥800. The United States, Thailand, Turkey and Mexico sit at that level, Europe is costlier, and global plans are cheaper when booked in advance. Eligible au plan subscribers can also take a capped free monthly allowance.

Unlimited data and hotspot sharing are both part of unlimited data, hotspot and carrier plan. A fair use policy still applies, with speed throttled if heavy data use happens within a day, so the allowance is generous rather than unthrottled for constant streaming.

Hotspot sharing is listed as yes, and unlimited data, hotspot and carrier plan includes hotspot. That covers laptops, tablets and travel routers working off the phone. Keep the fair use policy in mind, since heavy use within a day can slow the shared connection.

Coverage runs to 17 countries, which is a regional footprint rather than a global one. Zwitchy lists 200 countries, so a traveller moving across several regions gets less from KDDI au.

It is sold as a carrier plan: carrier and unlimited data, hotspot and carrier plan both point that way, and the legal entity behind it is KDDI Corporation. Plans tie into the au home network, which suits travellers who already subscribe to au at home.

Support runs on phone and help centre, so a phone line and a help centre are the routes in. The legal entity behind the plan is KDDI Corporation, which matters when a carrier-side issue needs raising.

Both, according to short trip and long trip, which lists short-trip and long-trip use. The catch is the daily regional structure: reference prices are charged per day, and the free allowance for eligible au plan subscribers is capped each month.

For a lower entry point, eSIMGo.is lists a from price of $0.99, and SimToIsrael lists $25. KDDI au starts at ¥800 and is priced by region, so the comparison turns on currency and the region being visited.
