Hallon review

Plans start at SEK 169 for the smallest European bundle, and each region is sold with a smaller and a larger option, so the bigger one costs more every time. Prices are quoted in Swedish krona, and the entry price is the floor rather than the average spend.

Unlimited data appears in the feature list at unlimited data, 5g and carrier plan, but the fair use policy qualifies it. Extra data is capped in speed and applies in Sweden only. In the EU/EEA and the UK the plan allowance is used first, and once it is gone roaming continues at a pay as you go rate per MB.

Coverage stands at 47 countries, split into regional bundles for Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, South America and Oceania. The North American bundle includes the US, Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica, while the Asian one names Japan, China, Thailand, India and Singapore.

Hallon is a Swedish virtual operator on the Tre network, with unlimited data, the newest mobile network generation and a carrier plan all listed at unlimited data, 5g and carrier plan. The headquarters sit in SE and the company has traded since 2013.

Roaming comes with the subscription in the EU/EEA and the UK, the part of Hallon's setup most travellers will touch. After the plan limit in the EU, pay as you go roaming applies worldwide at a set rate per MB. Bundles start at SEK 169.

Help runs through email, chat and help centre: a help centre, live chat and email. The help centre is also the support channel most plans on the site rely on, at 87.3%. Worth knowing before you pick, since a phone call is not part of the package.

Hallon is built for short trips, short trip, in the budget corner of the market, budget. It suits someone staying in a single region who can live with a fixed allowance and top up as needed. Coverage of 47 countries makes it a pick for a single trip rather than a long multi-country run.
