Pros and cons
Pros
- Sold by a carrier, so the plan is set up and supported in Sri Lanka itself
- Roaming is listed for the USA, Japan, UK, Thailand, Turkey, Mexico and other destinations
- Top-ups are available, so data can be extended without a new plan
- 5G is available on the roaming side as well as locally
Cons
- The monthly roaming plan puts a limit on the length of a stay in a single destination
- Roaming data in Myanmar is temporarily suspended under the fair use policy
- Once the quota is used, extra data on the tourist plan is charged per MB plus tax
Who it suits
- Travellers landing in Sri Lanka who want a local plan with roaming included
- Short trips where the same carrier plan covers local use and roaming
- People who would rather top up an existing plan than install a new eSIM
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone expecting a global eSIM for many countries: Zwitchy covers 200
- Budget shoppers comparing entry prices: eSIMGo.is lists $0.99
- Travellers planning a long stay in a single destination: SimToIsrael is built for a single market
Coverage and networks
Dialog Axiata is a home network in Sri Lanka, and the roaming side covers from 200. Region tags list local and global service, so a plan can work at home and abroad rather than only inside the country. 5G is available on roaming too, which is worth checking against the destinations on your route.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the tourist plan cost in Sri Lanka?+
The tourist plan in Sri Lanka starts at LKR 1,399, with larger bundles priced above that and a top tier that adds unlimited WhatsApp on top of the data. Validity suits a short stay, so check it against your trip length before you buy.
Is the data allowance unlimited?+
The tourist plans start at LKR 1,399, and unlimited data is listed as available. The fair use policy sets the boundary: extra data on the tourist plan is charged per MB plus tax once the quota is used, and unlimited data roaming is capped at a daily fee for subscribers who are not on a standard plan.
Which countries can I roam in?+
Roaming is listed for the USA, Japan, UK, Thailand, Turkey, Mexico and other destinations, and Dialog Axiata reports coverage across from 200. Rates are loaded per destination rather than as a single flat worldwide price, so a trip across several countries is worth costing first. The region setup is local and global.
Where is roaming currently suspended?+
Data roaming is temporarily suspended in Myanmar under the fair use policy, so do not count on data in that market. The same policy caps unlimited roaming at a daily fee for subscribers outside a standard plan. Coverage overall is reported across from 200.
Is it a carrier or a marketplace?+
Dialog Axiata is a carrier, so plans come straight from the operator rather than through a marketplace, and the tourist plans start at LKR 1,399. That shape suits travellers who already have a relationship with the operator, and top-ups are available so data can be topped up without a new purchase.
What support can I reach?+
Support runs on email, chat and phone, which covers email, chat, phone and a help centre. Because Dialog Axiata operates from Sri Lanka, that support sits with the local carrier rather than a foreign call centre.
Who is this plan aimed at?+
5G is available, and the audience is short trip. It suits a holiday where you want a local number on arrival, roaming when you leave Sri Lanka, and the option to top up when data runs low.
