ALDI Talk review

Prices start at €9.99, and the daily rate runs at €5.99. The listed packs scale with the data added, from a light allowance up to the largest one in 250 MB to 3 GB per 7-day travel pass, so a heavier week costs more than a short hop.

Allowances run 250 MB to 3 GB per 7-day travel pass, and each allowance is tied to a fixed pass length rather than a rolling cycle. That shape suits a holiday with a set end date, where the trip is over when the pass ends.

Coverage reaches from 100 countries. The world passes name the USA, Thailand and Turkey, while the Europe and North America pack covers the EU, the UK, Switzerland, the USA, Canada and Turkey, so common routes are named.

Only inside Germany. unlimited data, 5g and hotspot lists unlimited data, and the Surf-Ticket Unlimited is unlimited at home, but in EU roaming it is capped at a set amount and the EU Fair Use Policy then applies, leaving a very low maximum speed.

Hotspot sharing is included, and 10 devices can be connected at once. The connection runs on 5G, so a group can share a single ticket rather than buying a pass each, and unlimited data applies inside Germany.

The digital pass is booked in the app or the online portal, and any hardware is shipped by DHL. Instant activation is listed in unlimited data, 5g and hotspot, so a pass can be set up and used on a phone or the hotspot as soon as it is bought.

Help runs through email, phone and help centre. That covers email, phone, a help centre and a community, and top-ups are available, so a pass can be topped up rather than replaced when data runs low part way through.

It is an MVNO running on Telefonica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG, with its home market listed as DE. The provider behind the plan is medion GmbH, so the tariff sits inside the ALDI brand rather than on a separate network of its own.
