Our verdict
A1 Macedonia sells its own carrier roaming packs, aimed at short trips around the region rather than long global stays. It suits travellers crossing neighbouring countries who want an operator's plan, with 33 countries covered, prices from MKD 299 and data sold in fixed bundles rather than unlimited.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Top-ups are available, so data can be added mid-trip without buying a new pack.
- Support runs on phone and help centre for help before and during the trip.
- 5G is available on the network, with roaming through A1 Serbia, MTS and Telenor Serbia.
Cons
- Coverage of 33 countries suits regional travel, not long multi-continent trips.
- Unlimited data is not offered, so heavy usage means topping up mid-trip.
- Prices start from MKD 299 and the larger Europe and US bundles cost more, so heavy data days push the bill up.
Who it suits
- Travellers on short trips across Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Existing A1 Macedonia customers who would rather add roaming to a plan they already hold.
- People who want a plan run by the operator itself, with 5g and carrier plan rather than a travel reseller.
Who should look elsewhere
- Longer or worldwide itineraries: Zwitchy covers 200 countries, well past this regional pack.
- Buyers shopping purely on a low dollar entry price, such as eSIMGo.is at $0.99 or SimToIsrael at $25, while this carrier is priced in Macedonian denar.
The company behind it
The pack is sold by A1 Macedonia DOOEL Skopje, the company behind the plan, registered in North Macedonia, and it reaches travellers as the carrier itself rather than through a travel marketplace. Support runs on phone and help centre only, so a question lands with a phone line or a self-serve help centre. Buying here means dealing with the operator directly, not a separate travel brand.

Frequently asked questions
What does a plan cost to start with?+
Entry pricing sits at MKD 299, and the reference bundles step up from there with larger data allowances for Europe and the US. Smaller packs cover the Western Balkans, while talk bundles reach Europe, the US and Russia. Each pack carries a monthly validity rather than running indefinitely.
Which countries does it cover?+
Coverage runs to 33 countries, and the roaming list names partners including A1 Serbia, MTS and Telenor Serbia. The packs are built for neighbouring-country hops, so an itinerary that stretches into North America or Asia sits outside what the reference bundles are aimed at.
Is there unlimited data?+
Unlimited data is not offered, and the packs are sold with set data allowances instead, with entry pricing at MKD 299. Discounted roaming use also sits under a fair use policy aligned with the conditions of the Agency for Electronic Communications, with the detail in the general terms.
Can I pick a different data allowance or add more while abroad?+
Data allowances come in several sizes, from small packs for the Western Balkans to larger bundles for Europe and the US, plus talk bundles covering minutes. Top-ups are available, so data can be added while travelling, and the starting price is MKD 299.
Who do I contact about roaming problems?+
Support runs on phone and help centre only, meaning a phone call or the self-serve help centre cover questions about roaming packs, coverage abroad and charges. Since A1 Macedonia sells the plan as the carrier, the same account carries the roaming add-on.
Is this a carrier plan with 5G?+
It is a carrier plan sold by the operator rather than a marketplace seller, and 5g and carrier plan sits on the offer. 5G is available on the network, so a handset that supports it will use it wherever the roaming partner has it.
How does it compare with global eSIM options?+
A global plan covers more ground: Zwitchy lists 200 countries against 33 here, and eSIMGo.is starts at $0.99 while this carrier lists MKD 299. The trade is regional reach on an operator plan against worldwide coverage on a travel eSIM.
Who is this aimed at?+
Short trips are the target and the pack mix backs that up, with smaller Western Balkan bundles for quick hops, larger Europe and US bundles for a longer break, and talk bundles for callers. Coverage of 33 countries suits regional itineraries rather than round-the-world travel.
