Our verdict
A1 Bulgaria is the carrier option here, pairing its own network with eSIM roaming for short trips and longer stays. It reaches from 100 destinations, lists 5g and carrier plan, and suits travellers who would rather lean on a home network than a resale marketplace eSIM.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Coverage of from 100 destinations sits well above the esims category median of 74.
- Sold by the network itself, carrier, so the eSIM and the roaming plan come from the operator behind the network.
- Support runs on phone, email and chat.
- Pitched at short trip and long trip, so a short break and a longer stay can share the same plan.
Cons
- Unlimited data is a no, so every plan carries a set data allowance and heavy streaming runs into the fair use policy.
- Outside the EU a daily fee applies, with a daily data allowance in over from 100 destinations, so roaming bursts cost more.
- Coverage stops short of Zwitchy at 200 destinations and eSIMGo.is at 190.
Who it suits
- Travellers on a home line with a Bulgarian carrier who want one operator for the eSIM and the roaming.
- Readers who prefer a carrier plan with phone, email and chat support over a self-serve marketplace eSIM.
- Short trips and long trips alike, listed under short trip and long trip.
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone chasing the widest map: Zwitchy lists 200 destinations.
- Single market trips: SimToIsrael covers 1 destination, a neater fit than a plan spread over from 100.
- Travellers who want unlimited data with no fair use policy, since unlimited data is a no and roaming outside the EU carries a daily fee.

Frequently asked questions
Who is A1 Bulgaria and where is it based?+
A1 Bulgaria is sold by the network operator itself, with the legal entity given as A1 Bulgaria EAD and the home country as BG. Being a carrier means the eSIM and the roaming plans sit with the company that runs the network, which is the main difference from a resale marketplace brand.
How many countries does it cover?+
Coverage runs to from 100 destinations, which puts it above the esims category median of 74. It remains narrower than Zwitchy at 200 destinations and eSIMGo.is at 190, so a multi country trip is worth weighing.
Is there an unlimited data plan?+
No. Unlimited data is a no for A1 Bulgaria, so each plan ships with a set data allowance and roaming sits under a fair use policy. Heavy streaming on a long trip runs into that policy, and the operator's own support at phone, email and chat is the place to ask about extra allowance.
What happens when you roam outside the EU?+
Outside the EU a daily fee applies, with a daily data allowance in over from 100 destinations. Inside the EU the EU fair use policy governs roaming minutes and data. With unlimited data a no, roaming past the allowance is the case to plan and budget for.
Does it offer 5G?+
Yes. The feature list carries 5G alongside 5g and carrier plan, so 5G access follows the partner network in the destination you are in. The plan is sold as a carrier plan rather than a marketplace product, which means network behavior abroad depends on the visited network's own build.
What support can I get?+
Support runs on phone, email and chat, so a traveler can call, send an email, use chat or read the help centre. The company behind the profile is A1 Bulgaria EAD in Bulgaria, which puts the operator's own service teams first for roaming questions.
Who is the plan aimed at?+
The profile lists short trip and long trip as the target, so short trips and longer stays can use the same roaming plans. Readers weighing price per GB and validity against a resale marketplace can read this as the carrier option, reaching from 100 destinations.
How does its coverage compare with other eSIM brands?+
A1 Bulgaria reaches from 100 destinations, more than the esims category median of 74. Zwitchy lists 200 destinations and eSIMGo.is 190, while SimToIsrael is a single market at 1 destination for trips that stay put.
